Trip overview:

The MNA RV Ministry has been serving at the PCA's Ridge Haven Camp Conference & Retreat Center for many years, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with this ministry. We usually serve here twice a year, once in the early spring before the camp season, and again in the early fall before the retreat and conference season gets into full swing.

What work will we be doing:

The women usually choose to assist the Ridge Haven housekeeping staff to clean, maintain and prepare the rooms for guests. Typically the men will choose to work on general maintenance of the camp buildings and grounds. This can include carpentry, painting, landscaping work and more. We always work as a team, so there are ways to contribute regardless of your skill or experience level. Bring along your favorite hand tools, power tools and personal safety equipment as you are able. (Gloves, knee pads, safety glasses and ear plugs are often useful.) For those signed up for this trip, we will be communicating more information in the coming days as we learn more about the specific needs and how we can best serve.

Daily schedule:

We start each day with a short devotional time at 8:30 am and begin work at 9:00 am.  Lunch break is from 12:00 - 1:30 pm and we quit work at 4:00 pm.  Morning and afternoon 15 minute breaks are encouraged as needed.

Meals:

We each prepare our own meals and eat dinner together in the covered picnic area in the campground. Dinner is at 6:00 pm, with some fellowship time afterward around the fire pit, weather permitting.

Facilities for RVs:

Ridge Haven provides full hookup RV sites (with up to 50amp electric) on a large, level gravel parking area. All sites are back-in. A self-contained RV is necessary for this trip. Laundry is available at camp within easy walking distance. It is helpful if you are able to bring a towed car or use your tow vehicle for transport around camp since the facility is sprawling and hilly. It's not required though, since we share rides as needed.

Getting to Ridge Haven Brevard:

All but the smallest RVs should enter from US64 along Frozen Creek Road and avoid Old Toxaway Road and the steep hairpin turns it contains. Once through the entrance to Ridge Haven, continue about 1/2 mile up to the RV area, turning left at the stop sign along the way. The last few yards of the road become a narrow gravel lane up to the RV area. There is plenty of room at the top to maneuver and unhook a tow car if needed. Trip leaders will be on hand to help you get parked.
