MNA Disaster Response Warehouse

Trip overview:

We will be typically working each day, Monday through Friday. Depending on our team makeup, we may reserve some time during the week to participate in relief equipment training, or to hear from MNA staff about how RVers can become more involved in the Disaster Response ministry. In addition, we will reserve an afternoon to take an outing to one of the points of interest in the Rome area. The warehouse provides us with a hospitality area where we can gather for meals and for fellowship time.

What work will we be doing:

We are usually involved in a wide variety of maintenance or upgrade tasks on the building and relief equipment, as well as helping to organize and prepare the relief supplies stored there.  For those signed up for this trip, we will be communicating more information in the coming days as we learn more about the specific needs and how we can best serve.  Needed tools and equipment are usually provided and available, but you are welcome to bring your own tools as you like.

Daily schedule:

We start each day with a short devotional time at 8:30 and begin work at 9:00.  Lunch break is from 12:00 - 1:30 and we quit work at 4:00.  Morning and afternoon 15 minute breaks are encouraged as needed.

Meals:

We each prepare our own meals and eat dinner together in the hospitality area.  If you are unable to do food prep in your own RV, there is a fridge and microwave available.

Facilities for RVs:

We will be using the fenced-in lot beside the warehouse for parking RVs. There are limited 50 amp and plentiful 20 amp electrical plugs available outside the building. While there is not an RV sewer hookup at the warehouse, there is a free public dump station available at the Rome Welcome Center (402 Civic Center Dr, Rome, GA 30161). Water is available at the warehouse for filling your fresh tank. There are restroom and shower facilities available for our use at the warehouse, which helps to cut down on water use in your RV. All of our other ministry trips require a self-contained RV, but this opportunity is open to those with any type of RV.

Getting to the warehouse:

The warehouse is easily accessible along Martha Berry Highway (US27) north of Rome, GA.  As you turn on Ashley Oaks Trail, enter through the back gate and swing around to the right so you are facing out toward Martha Berry Highway.  Trip leaders will be on hand to help you get parked.
